    Notes
    • Samuel signed a petition of 246 citizens, asking the King for a House of Assembly for the Province of Quebec, on November 24, 1784.

In 1790 Samuel, who had been living with his mother and step-father in Montreal, moved to Oswegatene (Prescott) travelled to Mississquoi Bay and married Catherine. After marriage they returned to Augusta Township, near where his parents lived and stayed until 1805 or1806. They then moved to St. Armand, Quebec.

In 1807, Samuel Embury began to serve as a local preacher and continued on this circuit for many years.

On November 6, 1804 Samuel was suspended from the United Empire Loyalist list "for want of proof of his loyalty", although in 1801 and 1803, as the son of a Loyalist he had received 300 acres in Augusta Township.

In1819 he assisted with the building of a chapel which is today the oldest Methodist Church building still in use in Quebec Province.

In1832, Samuel still had his fathers bible, which he sold to Rev. Fitch Reed, who donated it to John Street Church in New York.

Samuel became a leader in the Methodist Society at St. Armand around 1806. St. Armand was on the same Methodist Circuit, called Ashgrove as Camden Valley.
